King Abdullah meets Israeli Finance Minister

King Abdullah met with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid at the Al Husseiniya Palace. As part of the meeting, King Abdullah reaffirmed the need to accelerate efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution that guarantees the creation of an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

King Abdullah meets Israeli Finance MinisterKing Abdullah stressed the importance of maintaining the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem, remaining calm, and stopping unilateral actions that undermine the two-state solution. The King also stressed the importance of achieving a just peace through a two-state solution to boost regional cooperation.

Jafar Hassan, Director of His Majesty’s Office, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi attended the meeting. The two foreign ministers discussed ways to resume effective negotiations and achieve peace, including a two-state solution in accordance with international law, where both Palestinians and Israelis can live in peace and security side-by-side. During the meeting, bilateral issues of concern were also discussed.
